At 5'9" I'm about the height of the average American man. I ordered this chair because I read that the leg support could be set up to hold my leg straight out. However, when this chair arrived and I tried to put my leg in it, my foot stuck about 5 inches past the foot rest, making this wheelchair unusable. So I do not recommend it if you need to keep your leg straight. It's fine if you can bend your knees.
